Assembly constituency no.39 Siaha (Saiha) is an Assembly seat in the South region and Siaha district, of the state of Mizoram, which is in the North East region of India (Bharat). Siaha is part of the 1. Mizoram (General) Lok Sabha (Parliamentary) constituency. This constituency can be categorised as: Scheduled Tribe; Urban constituency.

DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE

Siaha Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 0.04% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 95.89%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission of 2008. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 90.01%, according the Census of India, 2011.

In the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections, there were a total of 24,126 eligible electors in the constituency, of which 11,530 were male and 12,596 female and registered voters were of the third gender.

The electorate sex ratio in Siaha in 2023 was 1,092 female voters for every 1,000 male voters.

In the 2018 Assembly polls, there were a total of 20,975 eligible electors, of which 10,058 were male, 10,917 female and 61 electors of the third gender.

In the 2013 Mizoram Assembly elections, there were a total of 18,287 eligible electors, of which 8,865 were male, 9,422 female and 0 voters of the third gender.

In the 2008 Assembly polls, there were a total of 16,394 eligible electors, of which 7,993 were male, 8,401 female and 0 electors of the third gender.

The number of service voters in Siaha in 2018 was 61. In 2013, there were 22 service voters registered in the constituency and 11 in 2008.

PAST RESULTS

In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Dr K Beichhua of MNF won in this seat defeating S Hiato of INC by a margin of 2,468 which was 15.16% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 49.82% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Dr K Beichhua of MNF emerged victorious in this seat beating S Hiato of INC by a margin of 222 votes which was 1.5% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 49.62% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, S Hiato of INC won this seat beating H C Lalmalsawma Zasai of MNF by a margin of 103 votes which was 0.8% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 36.94% in the seat.

The geographic coordinates of Siaha is: 22°31’04.8″N 93°01’51.2″E. Siaha shares its borders with three other Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram. The other Mizoram Assembly constituencies adjacent to Siaha are: Lawngtlai West, Lawngtlai East, Palak. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with: Myanmar.

Siaha Assembly constituency went to the polls in Phase 1 on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the Mizoram Assembly elections 2023. The counting of votes is on Monday, December 4, 2023. In the 2018 elections this seat voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 and the results were declared on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. In the 2013 polls this constituency voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 and the results were declared on Sunday, December 08, 2013. In 2008, Siaha voted in Phase 1 on Tuesday, December 02, 2008 and the results were declared on Monday, December 08, 2008.

Assembly constituency no.39. Siaha comprises of the following areas of Siaha district in the South region of Mizoram: Villages Phalhrang, Rawmibawk (Amotla), Tuisumpui, Riasikah, Tuipui Ferry, Niawhtlang, lungbun, Chhuarlung, Phusa, Saihatlangkawn, New Saiha, College Veng, New Colony, Council Veng, old Saiha, meisaveng, meisatla and Thingsen Veng in Tuipang R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 243 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Siaha is: 22°31’04.8″N 93°01’51.2″E.

A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram share borders with Siaha constituency, which are: Lawngtlai West, Lawngtlai East, Palak. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with Myanmar.
