As New Zealand and a young South African squad take each other on for a two-match Test series, here is all you need to know regarding the upcoming fixtures.

The two-match Test series between New Zealand and South Africa is scheduled to start on Sunday, February 4 and the opening Test match between the two sides will be played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. New Zealand and South Africa will compete for the Tangiwai Shield in the Test series.

The trophy will commemorate one of the deadliest rail accidents that occurred in 1953 when 151 people died while travelling from Wellington to Auckland on the eve of Christmas. The incident coincided with the second Test played between New Zealand and South Africa at Ellis Park in Johannesburg on December 24.

New Zealand will be led by fast bowler Tim Southee in the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Neil Brand will handle the leadership duties for the Proteas. The Test series against the Kiwis will also mark Brand’s debut in international cricket. Many South Africa cricket team’s big names will not be able to take part in the Test series due to their involvement in the SA20.
