The former Indian player recalled some of his notable moments during his playing career. He said,” You showed one there in 1985 because there was a final against Pakistan. Shastri after receiving the award gave his answer. He said,” If you ask me one, the icing on the cake was that last day at the Gabba when we went past the finish line with Rishabh Pant taking us home, and I thank my players for that.”

Ravi Shastri was the coach of the Indian side when they managed a historic comeback to win their first Test series on Australian soil. They managed this feat without the likes of Virat Kohli and other senior stars missing out on the matches subsequently due to injuries sustained during the tour.
