Assembly constituency no.21 Lengteng is an Assembly seat in the North region and Saitual district, of the state of Mizoram, which is in the North East region of India (Bharat). Lengteng is part of the 1. Mizoram (General) Lok Sabha (Parliamentary) constituency. This constituency can be categorised as: Scheduled Tribe; Rural constituency.

DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE

Lengteng Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 0% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 98.11%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission of 2008. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 97.89%, according the Census of India, 2011.

In the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections, there were a total of 18,588 eligible electors in the constituency, of which 9,313 were male and 9,275 female and registered voters were of the third gender.

The electorate sex ratio in Lengteng in 2023 was 996 female voters for every 1,000 male voters.

In the 2018 Assembly polls, there were a total of 17,331 eligible electors, of which 8,827 were male, 8,504 female and 166 electors of the third gender.

In the 2013 Mizoram Assembly elections, there were a total of 16,191 eligible electors, of which 8,223 were male, 7,968 female and 0 voters of the third gender.

PAST RESULTS

In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, L Thangmawia of MNF won in this seat defeating H Rohluna of INC by a margin of 1,772 which was 12.61% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 45.77% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, H Rohluna of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating L Thangmawia of MNF by a margin of 167 votes which was 1.26% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 42.83% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, H Rohluna of INC won this seat beating L Thangmawia of MNF by a margin of 786 votes which was 6.4% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 38.92% in the seat.

The geographic coordinates of Lengteng is: 23°48’07.2″N 93°11’24.0″E. Lengteng shares its borders with six other Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram. The other Mizoram Assembly constituencies adjacent to Lengteng are: Chalfilh, Tawi, Tuikum, Hrangturzo, Tuichang, Champhai North. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with: Pherzawl district of Manipur.

Lengteng Assembly constituency went to the polls in Phase 1 on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the Mizoram Assembly elections 2023. The counting of votes is on Monday, December 4, 2023. In the 2018 elections this seat voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 and the results were declared on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. In the 2013 polls this constituency voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 and the results were declared on Sunday, December 08, 2013. In 2008, Lengteng voted in Phase 1 on Tuesday, December 02, 2008 and the results were declared on Monday, December 08, 2008.

VOTER TURNOUT

EXTENT

Assembly constituency no.21. Lengteng comprises of the following areas of Saitual district in the North region of Mizoram: Villages Ngopa I & II, lamzawl, mimbung, Hrianghmun, Teikhang, Hliappui, Hliappui ‘S’, Changzawl, Pawlrang, Saichal, Kawlbem, N e Khawdungsei, Khawkawn and Chiahpui in Ngopa R D Block; and Villages Dulte, Vanchengpui, Puilo, Chhawrtui, Vankal and Kawlkulh in Khawzawl R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 932 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Lengteng is: 23°48’07.2″N 93°11’24.0″E.

A total of six Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram share borders with Lengteng constituency, which are: Chalfilh, Tawi, Tuikum, Hrangturzo, Tuichang, Champhai North. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with Pherzawl district of Manipur.
