Rohit Sharma looked around for suggestions, whether to go for the review as wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel felt that the ball was sliding down the leg stump as Kuldeep Yadav seconded Jadeja’s call that it was plum.

As the clock ticking down from 15 seconds, Rohit hilariously urged his teammates to think quickly.

Kuch seconds baaki hain, sab log dimaag lagao (Only a few seconds left, put your heads together),” was picked up by the stump mic as the commentators were left in splits.

In the end, Rohit Sharma was convinced and decided to take the review at the last second.

The DRS though ruled that it was umpire’s call.

Ben Stokes was castled by Kuldeep Yadav soon after with a delivery which kept low and turned to hit the back pad and rolled onto the stumps in a session where India fought back on a pitch which has a lot of assistance for bowlers.

Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin took the new ball on a pitch with cracks and variable bounce and struck in consecutive balls to remove Ben Duckett, caught at short leg for 15, and Ollie Pope, lbw without scoring, as England were reduced 19-2.

Root, who scored an unbeaten 122 in the first innings, put on 46 with Crawley before Ashwin and India reviewed an lbw appeal, with tracking software indicating the ball just pitched in line and would hit Root’s leg stump.

Crawley raised his fifty but was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav who turned one sharply with his left-arm wrist spin.
