Khan, who has been handed his debut after a prolonged wait made good on his chance as he grabbed the opportunity presented to him with both hands with a spectacular 62-run knock off just 66 deliveries before he was unceremoniously run out by Englishman Mark Wood.

Team India batsman Sarfaraz Khan made his Test debut in the third Test of the series between India and England at Rajkot on Thursday as he produced a brilliant half-ton to help the hosts’ cause.

Khan, who has been handed his debut after a prolonged wait made good on his chance as he grabbed the opportunity presented to him with both hands with a spectacular 62-run knock off just 66 deliveries before he was unceremoniously run out by Englishman Mark Wood.

Fans took to social media to express their delight at the 26-year-old’s smashing debut performance and congratulated him for the way he navigated through the English bowling.

One fan shared a post that read, “SARFARAZ KHAN SCORED THE FASTEST TEST FIFTY ON DEBUT BY AN INDIAN…!!!”

Another user posted, “FIFTY FOR SARFARAZ KHAN ON HIS DEBUT – He has waited for ages to get the debut cap, sacrificed a lot, went through tough times but never stopped his hunger and made the opportunity count, What a dominant innings.”

“His father’s face says it all, what a beautiful moment for Sarfaraz Khan and his father,” read another update.

One user lauded the right-hand batter’s efforts stating, “Ducked short ball used against him at the very start & exploded when Rehan & Root came up . Used the crease really well but the best part is clarity in his mind and how early he is picking up length.”

Team India, who had won the toss and opted to bat first in the third Test managed to score 314 runs for the loss of 5 wickets when Khan was sent back to the hut following his dismissal.
