Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah was in scintillating form against the touring English side in the second Test of the five-match series at the ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Saturday as he bamboozled the visitors with his incredible bowling.

Bumrah, who removed nearly half of the English side with his attacking bowling, was also responsible for the dismissal of English skipper Ben Stokes as he was sent back to the hut after having made 47 runs.

India won the toss in the second fixture of the series and opted to have a bat first as opener Yashasvi Jaiswal stood tall with his maiden double hundred as he helped the side post a total of 396 runs in the first innings of the game.

Shubman Gill and Rajat Patidar chipped in with contributions of 34 runs and 32 runs respectively as Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel added 27 runs apiece. Ravichandran Ashwin made 20 runs before falling prey, while KS Bharat and skipper Rohit Sharma made 17 and 14 runs.

But, Jaiswal’s knock was enough to take the hosts close to the 400-run mark before they were bundled out by the English bowling attack.

James Anderson, Shoaib Basheer and Rehan Ahmed ended the innings with 3 wickets to their name each, while Tom Hartley scalped one.

In reply, India hit back with a vengeance as Bumrah proved too hot to handle for the English players. He opened his account for the match with the scalp of Joe Root, and doubled up on it when he dismissed Ollie Pope.

He then went on to pile more misery on the English side as he got rid of Jonny Bairstow, Stokes and Hartley to complete his five-wicket haul.

He had help from spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who sent Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes and Ahmed back to the dugout.

Patel got a wicket to his name with the dismissal of Zak Crawley to earn a healthy lead for India.
