Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar’s social media banter has elated the cricketing world. The duo are currently acting as promoters/presenters for the ongoing International League T20 being held in Dubai.

The raillery between the two started with Shoaib sharing a video on X in which Harbhajan hilariously called out the former pacer for his slow run-up. The post read, “A spinner humain baatein sunayen gay? Kya Zamana aa gaya hai Harbhajan Singh” [Now spinners are going to call us out? What times are we living in now]. Harbhajan had a fitting reply to the iconic pacer claiming that he could beat the speedster in a race. “Let’s have race now I know I can beat you in sprint. Ho jaaye race [let’s have a race] Shoaib Akhtar?”, Harbhajan wrote in his post.

Several fans have reacted to the wonderful relationship between the two bowlers despite belonging to opposite poles of the iconic cricket rivalry between India and Pakistan. One started reminiscing an iconic moment when Harbhajan Singh had struck a six against Shoaib Akhtar in an ICC Champions Trophy game. “Once Harbhajan struck a six to Shoaib during Champions Trophy Match. Never take opponents light”, he wrote.

One fan suggested that Harbhajan Singh must be happy to see the Pakistani cricketer run so slow having witnessed the pacer at his prime. “Hahah…he must be feeling relaxed seeing you run slow…after witnessing the fiery runups at your peak…it was so fascinating watching Shoaib Akhtar steaming in with long long runup…woww…Good to see both friends together!!”

Another fan was just happy to see the duo in the ongoing UAE T20 League. In his post, he said, “Haha great to see Shoaib, Bhajji n Viru in UAE T20 league”.

One Pakistani fan didn’t want Harbhajan to take their speedster easy as he wrote, “Sir don’t take easy our Rawalpindi express. Btw you’re both looking handsome”.

“Nice banter between u two!”, wrote one more.

Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar had stellar careers with their respective national teams. Harbhajan is widely considered to be one of the best spinners of his era who represented India across all three formats. The retired cricketer amassed a career total of 711 wickets while winning the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Whereas, Shoaib Akhtar is regarded as one of the speediest bowlers in the game. He still holds the record for the fastest cricket delivery at a speed of 161.3 kmph. This earned him the iconic nickname of ‘Rawalpindi Express’. Shoaib accumulated 444 wickets in his international career with Pakistan from 1997 to 2011. While he delivered several match-winning performances for his national side, an ICC trophy still eluded the former pacer.
