AUS vs WI, 2nd Test: Kavem Hodge Deflects Ball Using Abdominal Region as Windies Build on Lead Over Australia | WATCH

The West Indies are mounting a valiant fight against Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane, Australia in the second of the two-match Test series down under.

The Windies put up a strong batting performance to take their lead beyond the 200-run mark against the hosts in an enthralling contest.

The game witnessed a rather bizarre action from WI batsman Kavem Hodge, who opted to deflect a ball delivered by spinner Nathan Lyon using his abdominal region.

The Windies came into the second Test in the series looking to level the tour after they had suffered a 10wicket loss to the hosts in the first game of the series at Adelaide.

They were off to a shaky start as Australian pacer Mitchell Starc struck early to get to his 350-wicket mark in the longest format of the game.

Despite reeling at 60 for the loss of 5 wickets at one stage, WI managed to put up a total of 311 runs thanks to half-tons from Hodge, Joshua Da Silva and Kevin Sinclair.

Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon chipped in with a couple of wickets each, while skipper Pat Cummins picked up a scalp himself.

The Windies picked up an incredible morale boost as the Australians decided to declare their innings at 289 for the loss of 9 wickets, which meant that the tourists had a 13-run lead before they could begin their second innings.

Half-tons from Usman Khawaja, Alex Carey and Pat Cummins were the noteworthy scores on the Aussie scoresheet, as Alzarri Joseph scalped 4 wickets. Kemar Roach dismissed three batsmen, while Shamar Joseph and Sinclair bagged a wicket each.

The visitors looked to seize the opportunity to build on the lead but the Aussie bowling unit held strong as they managed to claim 6 WI wickets in the second innings before Tea on the third day of the second and final Test.
