Aizawl South – III Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 0.03% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 98.16%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission of 2008. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 97.89%, according the Census of India, 2011.

In the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections, there were a total of 22,514 eligible electors in the constituency, of which 11,032 were male and 11,482 female and registered voters were of the third gender.

PAST RESULTS

In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, F Lalnunmawia of MNF won in this seat defeating K S Thanga of INC by a margin of 2,088 which was 12.01% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 43.47% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, K S Thanga of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Tawnluia of MNF by a margin of 667 votes which was 4.2% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 41.5% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, K S Thanga of INC won this seat beating Tawnluia of MNF by a margin of 350 votes which was 2.5% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 37.74% in the seat.

In the 2018 elections this seat voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 and the results were declared on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. In the 2013 polls this constituency voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 and the results were declared on Sunday, December 08, 2013. In 2008, Aizawl South – III voted in Phase 1 on Tuesday, December 02, 2008 and the results were declared on Monday, December 08, 2008.

Aizawl South – III comprises of the following areas of Aizawl district in the Aizwal region of Mizoram: Villages Hualngohmun, Thingdawl (melriat), Kelsih, Falkawn, muallungthu, Tachhip, Aibawk, Sateek, Phulpui, Khawhminglokawn, N lungsai, S maubuang, Thiak, Sumsuih, Hmuifang, lungsei, Samlukhai, Chamring, lamchhip, Chawilung, Sialsuk and Sailam in Aibawk R D Block; and Villages lungleng I, N lungleng Samtlang and Aizawl (Notified Town) – Wd No 37 – S Hlimen, Wd No 38 – melthum and Wd No 39 – Saikhamakawn in Tlangnuam R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 583 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Aizawl South – III is: 23°23’20.4″N 92°44’49.2″E.
