Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam was seen losing his cool during a Pakistan Super League game after being mocked by the audience.

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam is often admired for his calm temperament on the field. The right-hand batter has even garnered praise from legendary Javed Miandad for his composure and sportsmanship. But recently, he was seen losing his cool during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) game after being mocked by the audience. Azam has been leading Peshawar Zalmi in the ongoing season of the T20 League. His team has so far lost 2 out of three games, placed at second-last spot on the tally with 2 points.

In a video doing rounds on social media, the Peshawar Zalmi skipper can be seen getting angry after the fans chanted ‘Zimababar’ in unison. Sitting on the sidelines with his team members, Babar could be seen gesturing to hit the spectator mocking him with a plastic bottle and even murmuring a few words as the people in the stands continued to mock him.

Why Azam often mocked as Zimababar?

One of the most prolific batters of Pakistan, Babar possesses exceptional averages across formats. He has garnered close to 4000 Test runs at an average of 45.85 while in the ODIs, he has scored 5229 runs in 117 games at an average of 56.72. In T20Is, he has played 109 matches and has accumulated 3698, averaging 41.55.

But the cricket fans have always trolled him for scoring more against Zimbabwe to better his average.

Here are Babar Azam’s statistics against Zimbabwe across formats:

Format No. of Matches Runs Best Score Strike Rate Average 100/50
Tests 2 2 2 22.22 1 0/0
ODIs 9 459 125 100.43 114.75 2/2
T20Is 7 232 82 124.06 38.66 0/3

Babar’s Team in PSL 2024

Babar has been in exception form in the ongoing PSL 2024. In 3 games, he has scored 171 runs at an average of 57 and he’s striking at the rate of 143.70. He has also struck a couple of fifties and is currently the second-highest run-getter in the league.

However, his team is not boasted that form. They have registered just 1 win so far and have lost 2. With 7 more games to go, they have a chance to bounce back to strengthen their case for the knock-out qualification.
