Assembly constituency no.27 Tuikum is an Assembly seat in the North region and Serchhip district, of the state of Mizoram, which is in the North East region of India (Bharat). Tuikum Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 0% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 98.73%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission of 2008. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 97.91%, according the Census of India, 2011.

PAST RESULTS

In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Er Lalrinawma of MNF won in this seat defeating Sangzela Tlau of INC by a margin of 1,397 which was 10.24% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 39.85% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Er Lalrinawma of MNF emerged victorious in this seat beating K Lianzuala of INC by a margin of 14 votes which was 0.11% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 35.53% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, K Lianzuala of INC won this seat beating Vanlalhlana of MPC by a margin of 402 votes which was 3.47% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MPC had a vote share of 36.81% in the seat.

The geographic coordinates of Tuikum is: 23°24’34.9″N 92°54’54.0″E. Tuikum shares its borders with five other Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram. The other Mizoram Assembly constituencies adjacent to Tuikum are: Serchhip, Aizawl South-III, Tawi, Lengteng, Hrangturzo. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with: no other state.

Tuikum Assembly constituency went to the polls in Phase 1 on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the Mizoram Assembly elections 2023. The counting of votes is on Monday, December 4, 2023. In the 2018 elections this seat voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 and the results were declared on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. In the 2013 polls this constituency voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 and the results were declared on Sunday, December 08, 2013. In 2008, Tuikum voted in Phase 1 on Tuesday, December 02, 2008 and the results were declared on Monday, December 08, 2008.

EXTENT

Assembly constituency no.27. Tuikum comprises of the following areas of Serchhip district in the North region of Mizoram: Wd No 5 Chhiahtlang in Serchhip (Notified Town), and Villages lungpho, Chhingchhip, Khawbel, Hmuntha, Rullam, Thentlang, Ngentiang, Sialhau, e Thinglian and Vanchengte in Serchhip R D Block; and Villages Baktawng, Buhkangkawn, Chanin, Hmawngkawn, Khumtung and Hualtu in Thingsulthliah R D Block; and Tlungvel, Darlawng, and Phulmawi in Thingsulthliah R D Block of District Aizawl.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 532 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Tuikum is: 23°24’34.9″N 92°54’54.0″E.

A total of five Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram share borders with Tuikum constituency, which are: Serchhip, Aizawl South-III, Tawi, Lengteng, Hrangturzo. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with no other state.
