Assembly constituency no.29 South Tuipui is an Assembly seat in the South region and Hnahthial district, of the state of Mizoram, which is in the North East region of India (Bharat). South Tuipui Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 0% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 96.52%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission of 2008. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 88.86%, according the Census of India, 2011.

In the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections, there were a total of 16,294 eligible electors in the constituency, of which 8,037 were male and 8,257 female and registered voters were of the third gender.

The electorate sex ratio in South Tuipui in 2023 was 1,027 female voters for every 1,000 male voters.

In the 2018 Assembly polls, there were a total of 14,726 eligible electors, of which 7,314 were male, 7,412 female and 66 electors of the third gender.

PAST RESULTS

In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Dr R Lalthangliana of MNF won in this seat defeating John Siamkunga of INC by a margin of 1,469 which was 11.92% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 49.69% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, John Siamkunga of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating J Lalchhuana of ZNP by a margin of 1,568 votes which was 13.55% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 42.44% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Lalthanhawla of INC won this seat beating J Lalchhuana of ZNP by a margin of 96 votes which was 0.9% of the total votes polled in the constituency. ZNP had a vote share of 35.45% in the seat.

The geographic coordinates of South Tuipui is: 22°56’34.8″N 93°01’44.4″E. South Tuipui shares its borders with five other Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram. The other Mizoram Assembly constituencies adjacent to South Tuipui are: Hrangturzo, Lunglei North, Lunglei East, Lawngtlai East, Lunglei South. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with: Myanmar.

South Tuipui Assembly constituency went to the polls in Phase 1 on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the Mizoram Assembly elections 2023. The counting of votes is on Monday, December 4, 2023. In the 2018 elections this seat voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 and the results were declared on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. In the 2013 polls this constituency voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 and the results were declared on Sunday, December 08, 2013. In 2008, South Tuipui voted in Phase 1 on Tuesday, December 02, 2008 and the results were declared on Monday, December 08, 2008.

Assembly constituency no.29. South Tuipui comprises of the following areas of Hnahthial district in the South region of Mizoram: Villages S Chawngtui, Khawhlum, Tarpho, Khawhri, Hnahthial, Kutkawk, Denlung, Cherhlun, New Ngharchhip, old Ngharchhip, Thingsai, Bualpui H, Aithur, Tuipui (Darzokai), muallianpui, S Vanlaiphai, Darzo, S lungleng and lungpuitlang in Hnahthial R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 661 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of South Tuipui is: 22°56’34.8″N 93°01’44.4″E.

A total of five Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram share borders with South Tuipui constituency, which are: Hrangturzo, Lunglei North, Lunglei East, Lawngtlai East, Lunglei South. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with Myanmar.
