Assembly constituency no.6 Serlui is an Assembly seat in the North region and Kolasib district, of the state of Mizoram, which is in the North East region of India (Bharat). Serlui is part of the 1. Mizoram (General) Lok Sabha (Parliamentary) constituency. This constituency can be categorised as: Scheduled Tribe; Rural constituency.

DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE

Serlui Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 0.02% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 87.55%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission of 2008. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 93.5%, according the Census of India, 2011.

In the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections, there were a total of 21,167 eligible electors in the constituency, of which 10,355 were male and 10,812 female and registered voters were of the third gender.

The electorate sex ratio in Serlui in 2023 was 1,044 female voters for every 1,000 male voters.

In the 2018 Assembly polls, there were a total of 19,154 eligible electors, of which 9,506 were male, 9,648 female and 142 electors of the third gender.

In the 2013 Mizoram Assembly elections, there were a total of 16,858 eligible electors, of which 8,506 were male, 8,352 female and 0 voters of the third gender.

In the 2008 Assembly polls, there were a total of 14,637 eligible electors, of which 7,435 were male, 7,202 female and 0 electors of the third gender.

PAST RESULTS

In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Lalrinsanga Ralte of MNF won in this seat defeating Lalhmachhuana of INC by a margin of 927 which was 5.77% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 38.17% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, K Lalrinthanga of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Lalhmingliana of MNF by a margin of 1,406 votes which was 10.06% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 40.52% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, K Lalrinthanga of INC won this seat beating D Thangliana of MNF by a margin of 924 votes which was 7.61% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 37.35% in the seat.

The geographic coordinates of Serlui is: 24°18’45.7″N 92°46’26.4″E. Serlui shares its borders with three other Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram. The other Mizoram Assembly constituencies adjacent to Serlui are: Kolasib, Tuirial, Tuivawl. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with: Hailakandi and Cachar districts of Assam.

Serlui Assembly constituency went to the polls in Phase 1 on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, in the Mizoram Assembly elections 2023. The counting of votes is on Monday, December 4, 2023. In the 2018 elections this seat voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 and the results were declared on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. In the 2013 polls this constituency voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 and the results were declared on Sunday, December 08, 2013. In 2008, Serlui voted in Phase 1 on Tuesday, December 02, 2008 and the results were declared on Monday, December 08, 2008.

Assembly constituency no.6. Serlui comprises of the following areas of Kolasib district in the North region of Mizoram: Villages Phainuam, Saihapui V, Chite, Vakultui, N Chhimluang, N Chawnpui, Chemphai, Phaisen, Buhchangphai, N Thinglian, Bukvannei, Saihapui K, Parsenchhip, N Hlimen, Thingthelh, Vairengte (Notified Town), Bilkhawthlir, Rengtekawn and Builum in North Thingdawl R D Block; and Villages Saiphai and Saipum under Sakawrdai Sub-Division (Civil) in Thingdawl R D Block under Aizawl District.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 534 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Serlui is: 24°18’45.7″N 92°46’26.4″E.

A total of three Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram share borders with Serlui constituency, which are: Kolasib, Tuirial, Tuivawl. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with Hailakandi and Cachar districts of Assam.
