Sachin Tendulkar scalped a wicket and put on a show for his fans to reminisce as he led his side to a 4-wicket victory against Yuvraj Singh’s One World side.
The Master Blaster invoked a blast from the past for his fans all over as Sachin Tendulkar put on a stellar show, scalping a wicket and then scoring 27 runs off just 16 balls during his T20 exhibition titled “One World vs One Family.”
Sachin, who was the skipper of the One World team, was up against the Yuvraj Singh-led One Family squad which consisted of the likes of cricketing legends such as Mohammad Kaif, Muttiah Muralitharan, Makhaya Ntini, Chaminda Vaas and many more.
Batting first, Yuvraj-led Team One Family rode on a fifty from Darren Maddy to post 180/6 in 20 overs.
The likes of Monty Panesar, Harbhajan Singh and RP Singh all clinched wickets and skipper Tendulkar chipped in as well, to dismiss the dangerous Darren Maddy right after he reached his fifty.
Chasing down a target of 181 runs, Sachin then took to the opposition with the bat as well, as he opened the innings with Naman Ojha and set the tone for his team, smacking 3 boundaries and a six en route to his 27 runs.
Sachin also faced off against Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muraidharan and fell victim to the spinster’s magic as he was dismissed by him. The dismissal came as Tendulkar attempted an aggressive shot off Muralitharan but failed to clear Mohammad Kaif at long-on, who secured the catch.
At the end of the day, with the aide of former South African batter Alviro Petersen, who wreaked havoc with a 50-ball 74 run innings, it was Sachin’s side who clinched a four-wicket victory with one ball remaining.
With 17 runs needed off the last 12 deliveries, Irfan Pathan demonstrated composure, guiding his team towards victory. Requiring only seven runs from the final six deliveries, he confidently executed a powerful straight drive for a six, securing the match in their favor.
