Former England batsman Vaughan heaped praise on the 29-year-old as he likened the spinner to the legendary Australian bowler Warne following the Indian’s four-wicket spell against England in the second innings of the Ranchi Test.

Team India took control of the fourth Test at Ranchi as they finished Day 3 on 40 for no loss in the second innings while chasing a target of 192 runs against England on Sunday.

India wrapped up England for 353 runs in the first innings before making 307 runs thanks to Dhruv Jurel’s 90-run knock and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 73 run contribution. The Indian bowling unit took over in the second innings as Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja wrapped up the English second innings for just 145 runs to put India in command.

Ashwin picked up a five-wicket haul and was ably supported by Kuldeep’s spell which earned the left-arm spinner four wickets which proved crucial.

Former England batsman Michael Vaughan lauded the 29-year-old with lavish praise as he likened the spinner to the legendary Australian bowler Shane Warne.

“The best compliment I can give @imkuldeep18…Today he has bowled today like a left-armed Shane Warne,” Vaughan posted on his social media handle.

Ashwin made early inroads in the English innings as he removed opener Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope in back-to-back deliveries in the fifth over. He added the wicket of Joe Root to his kitty a while after to make it three. The Tamil Nadu spinner came back at the end of the innings to get rid of Ben Foakes and James Anderson to complete his fifer.

Kuldeep’s incredible spell saw hit get rid of Zak Crawley, who made a sizeable contribution of 60 runs for his side, before removing English skipper Ben Stokes with his wily spin.

The left-arm spinner dismissed Tom Hartley and Ollie Robinson to finish with four wickets while star all-rounder Jadeja bagged the solitary wicket of Jonny Bairstow.

India began the chase towards the end of the third day’s play as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten at the crease on 24 and 16 runs respectively as the hosts look primed to take the win.
