In Season Now – January

I was recently in Cleveland, Ohio. I clicked on my weather app, and it stated -10º C (14ºF).

The frigid weather made me think about the book “Guns, Germs, and Steel” which talks about human migration (amongst other things). I kept on thinking about our ancient ancestors than wondered from the warmth of Africa and the Mediterranean to the ridiculously cold weathers of Northern Europe, Siberia etc etc etc. I couldn’t help but think what in the world made them do such a silly thing. Go back! Go Back!

I was definitely thinking to myself, go back. Go back to the warm sunny beaches of Miami, where my weather app says its a comfortable 19ºC (66ºF). Go back.

Oh well. There I was in Cleveland thinking about the “in season now” that I had started, and not yet finished. I’m pretty sure there is nothing growing in Cleveland this time of year, at least outdoors and/or above the ground.

In contrast I was thinking about the citrus trees that are now full of fruit in southern Italy, and the strawberries that are almost ready for picking in Miami… In season now is especially location specific this time of year.
