Food & Antiques Market – Chiavari, Liguria (Italy) – In Season Now (May)
Last weekend we drove to Tellaro to visit my in laws and specifically my mother in law for the Mother’s Day. They in turn suggested we first make a stop in Chiavari for their food and antiques market, which occurs on the second Saturday of each month during the warmer months.
Chiavari, for those of you who don’t know it, is a beautiful city on the Ligurian coast. It’s sort of the suburbs of Genova, lined with palm trees and colorful historic buildings (that fortunately weren’t bombed during the world wars). One of those picture perfect towns that make me ask my husband, “so how much does a house cost here?”. Typically, I then day dream about relocating and for a few moments I try to figure out how we could make it work.
The four of us (husband, in laws, and I) walked through the town’s historic center, going from stall to stall surveying an array of objects from Sicilian olives to sterling silver knife sets.
