Assembly constituency no.8 Chalfilh is an Assembly seat in the Aizwal region and Saitual district, of the state of Mizoram, which is in the North East region of India (Bharat). Chalfilh Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 0.01% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 99.09%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission of 2008. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 97.89%, according the Census of India, 2011.

In the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections, there were a total of 19,968 eligible electors in the constituency, of which 10,075 were male and 9,893 female and registered voters were of the third gender.

PAST RESULTS

In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Lalrinliana Sailo of MNF won in this seat defeating F Rualhleia of IND by a margin of 1,007 which was 6.72% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 36.99% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Dr Ngurdingliana of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating L T Kima Fanai of MPC by a margin of 3,728 votes which was 26.42% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 50.84% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Chawngtinthanga of INC won this seat beating Lalvenhima Hmar of MPC by a margin of 543 votes which was 4.11% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MPC had a vote share of 37.31% in the seat.

The geographic coordinates of Chalfilh is: 23°52’18.1″N 93°01’13.4″E. Chalfilh shares its borders with four other Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with: Pherzawl districts of Manipur.

In the 2018 elections this seat voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 and the results were declared on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. In the 2013 polls this constituency voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 and the results were declared on Sunday, December 08, 2013. In 2008, Chalfilh voted in Phase 1 on Tuesday, December 02, 2008 and the results were declared on Monday, December 08, 2008.

EXTENT

Assembly constituency no.8. Chalfilh comprises of the following areas of Saitual district in the Aizwal region of Mizoram: Villages Khawruhlian, Tuirinikai, Hmunnghak, Khanpui and lailak in Darlawn R D Block; and Villages N Khawlek, Vanbawng, lamherh, Suangpuilawn, Zawngin, Phullen, Thanglailung, luangpawn, Phuaibuang, Khawlian, N e Tlangnuam and Daido in Phullen R D Block; and Villages Buhban, N lungpher, mualmam, Sesawng, Dilkhan, Tualbung and Sihfa in Thingsulthliah R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 940 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Chalfilh is: 23°52’18.1″N 93°01’13.4″E.

A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Mizoram share borders with Chalfilh constituency, which are: Tuivawl, Aizawl East-I, Tawi, Lengteng. This constituency shares an inter-state/international border with Pherzawl districts of Manipur.
