Aizawl South – II Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 0.06% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 94.48%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission of 2008. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 97.89%, according the Census of India, 2011.

In the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections, there were a total of 27,765 eligible electors in the constituency, of which 12,856 were male and 14,909 female and registered voters were of the third gender.

PAST RESULTS

In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Lalchhuanthanga of IND won in this seat defeating Denghmingthanga of MNF by a margin of 179 which was 0.92% of the total votes cast for the seat. IND had a vote share of 37.44% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Lt Col Zosangzuala of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating R Tlanghmingthanga of MNF by a margin of 1,043 votes which was 6.03% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 39.79% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Lt Col Zosangzuala of INC won this seat beating Denghmingthanga of ZNP by a margin of 489 votes which was 3.44% of the total votes polled in the constituency. ZNP had a vote share of 36.34% in the seat.

In the 2018 elections this seat voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 and the results were declared on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. In the 2013 polls this constituency voted in Phase 1 on Wednesday, December 04, 2013 and the results were declared on Sunday, December 08, 2013. In 2008, Aizawl South – II voted in Phase 1 on Tuesday, December 02, 2008 and the results were declared on Monday, December 08, 2008.

Aizawl South – II comprises of the following areas of Aizawl district in the Aizwal region of Mizoram: Aizawl (Notified Town) – Wd No 36 – I T I Wd No 40 – Tlangnuam, Wd No 41 – Kulikawn, Wd No 42 – Thakthing, Wd No 43 – Damveng, Wd No 44 – Venghnuai, Wd No 45 – Salem and Wd No 46 -mission Veng in Tlangnuam R D Block.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 20 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Aizawl South – II is: 23°39’48.6″N 92°41’29.4″E.
